SOLUTIONS
EXPAND HOUSING INITIATIVES
Unable to qualify for traditional affordable housing programs, yet not making enough to qualify for market rate housing- middle income earners often get left behind in housing initiatives.

Essential Housing, or Moderate Income Housing, creates rental opportunities at rates that are reasonable. Public bonds ensure the sustainability of rent restriction, creating the secure housing we need.
RENT INCREASE CONTROL
When there is so much competition for the same housing units, landlords find it easy to hike rents up.
With programs like Essential Housing, rent increases are regulated and restricted to no more than 4% increases yearly.
INCREASE HOUSING SUPPLY
The numbers don't lie, there are simply not enough homes for the number of people in California.
Converting market rate housing to Essential Housing allows equitable access to quality homes at rents we can afford.
CREATE HOMES CLOSER TO WORK
When Essential workers have the opportunity to live near their work, its proven to lower stress and increase quality of life. Right now, it can be a challenge to find available and affordable housing near work so more workers are moving far away.

Creating homes in the cities we work in allows us to do better at our jobs.
